THIS & THAT #22

WHOM DO YOU TRUST?

Hillary and Elizabeth are not on my “Yes I Really Trust” list; in fact there are only two women I do completely trust.

One is my wife and the other is my daughter. There are only two men on that list including the man who should have been president — Bernie — and our local supervisor, John Leopold.

A FREUD IN NEED
I have been told unconditionally to never contact one of my former far-right friends of some sixty-seven years, who believes that the current President is the greatest thing that happened to American Jews since Kraft began making low-fat Kosher Crème Cheese.

Our country is divided into many areas including by race, wealth, politics, religion, country-of-origin, sexual orientation, and sex. It is in the latter category that today I have been pestered by letters and news coverage from and about female want-to-be leaders, (or wanted-to-be leaders), who are neither my wife nor my daughter.

In today’s news, Hillary is placing most of the blame for her loss on either Putin’s people or on Comey’s belated pre-election pronouncements. There’s little reference to the inept DNC, Debby’s improper and biased actions, and Clinton’s advisors convoluted and misguided pre-election campaign activities.

ALPHABET SOUP
Yesterday’s mail brought in a financial request allegedly from the DSCC, but only after carefully examining the four-page pitch, was I able to discover that those initials represented the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. The letter described the group as a “grassroots network of fired-up progressives just like you,” which is an interesting assumption and presumption, since I never signed an oath to be one of them.

THE LIZ BIZ
In reality, the DSCC seems to be an organization primarily for and about Elizabeth. The addressee on the envelope is Elizabeth, ELIZABETH WARREN, DSCC. The letterhead reads “FROM THE DESK OF ELIZABETH WARREN,” and it is signed by Elizabeth, above the words “Senator Elizabeth Warren.” The enclosed pledge card has a photograph of a smiling Liz, with her arm raised in an acceptable winner’s pose, in front of a banner with a field of stars.

Come on Liz, you are campaigning for President, so why not be honest and say so?

TWO OUT OF THREE
Full Disclosure: I have overtly supported three candidates whom I once believed in: Eugene McCarthy in 1968, Bernie Sanders in 2016, and was totally misguided in 2008   when I sent moneys to support a dishonest John Edwards.

It is from what I learned in that latter experience, Liz, that you are not going to entrap me into supporting you or your DSCC, so please remove my name from your mailing list.

You have inspired me to send a check to John Leopold, and to finally sit in the sun and begin reading Bernie’s book, Our Revolution.

A SCARY DUO: SPRINGER AND SPICER
Where we are at today is personified by what is on television at this very moment. On one channel is the Jerry Springer Show, featuring three women who were convinced to see what they could do together in a bubble bath. The parallel is on another channel where Sean Spicer is bending the truth about three other entities; Donald, Chuck and the Democrats, and Mitch and the GOP. Perhaps those three would be able to make America Great Again, while sitting together in an oversized bathtub. They had better do so sooner than later, before Liz demands to be squeezed in.

THIS & THAT # 15

PRELUDE
After being worn out about the thought that there’s too much to write about, I took a brief hiatus from writing and publishing. There’s still too much to write about, and yet it’s a long-overdue time to start. As Alexander Portnoy’s psychiatrist said after their last session, “So. Now vee may perhaps to begin. Yes?”

THE NAME OF THE GAME
IS WHOM DO YOU BLAME?
There always seems to be a myriad of people and groups who rush for recognition when something goes right, even when they didn’t contribute anything to the outcome. On the other hand, there’s a definite dearth of individuals around to admit to their inadequacies and speak up when anything goes woefully wrong.

This extends to most everything in our world from the outcome of elections, to other man-made disasters, to mistakes in the world of sports of gigantic proportions. At times, there seems to be equally attributable woman-made mistakes.

ELECTION TIME BLAME
Both the Republicans and the Democrats can stake claim to their share of the blame, as to what went wrong during the 2016 Presidential Election.

PART ONE — THE GOP
As you may have learned, Donald J. Trump won the Electoral College vote and is now the President-Elect of the entire country, including Guam. In all honesty, can you blame Donald J. for being an egomaniacal, narcissistic, self-promoting, bombastic, crude, and unrefined provocateur? Those characteristics and his bending of the truth are what helped get him elected.

Can you blame him for seeming to be off-script and out of control at his rallies, for that attribute made him an American idol to his fans. Those who did not vote for him are praying that during his term he doesn’t disrupt their lives and the country too much. They would be pleased to see him as an American idle.

When it comes to blame, Donald J. and his satraps have consistently pounded on their number one enemy — “the media.”

With Donald leading the attack, his campaign made sure that his voting bloc knew that “the media” were a major source of their personal woes. They, and Hillary, became the common enemies, and he said so wherever and whenever he spoke.

I was in Las Vegas in December 2015, and while strolling through my hotel, I noticed a large group of people waiting to enter one ballroom, which turned out to be where a Trump rally was being held. I entered and found an inconspicuous place in the back, behind what could be described as a holding pen — like a cattle pen in a stockyard. But this pen was filled with reporters. In front of the pen, was a ten-foot platform crowded with camera-laden media people from local and national television outlets.

When Trump came on stage to perform, he immediately told his followers to turn around and look toward the pen and the platform. He announced, “These are our enemies. Yet they are clamoring to cover our great movement.” If on cue, his people started to loudly boo the media, and that became part of his act on the road.

NO DOUBT ABOUT "THEM"
During his campaign rallies Trump has described “the media” in a myriad of derisive terms, such as “sleazy,” “unfair,” “not good people,” ”slime,” “dishonest slime,” “disgusting,” “weak,” “clueless,” “scum,” “ridiculous,” unfair,” and finally he truly and deeply hurt them and inflamed his loyal supporters by calling the media “bad.”

At his rallies, he always points to the media in the back as he labels then “the most dishonest people in the world. They are the worst.” He reiterates his point and retaliates against “them,” by telling his people that “I am not running against crooked Hillary.  I’m running against the crooked media.”

SAYING IS BELIEVING
Because Donald J. has elevated the media to the top of his hit list, eighty-seven percent of Trump’s supporters see the media as biased against him. Which translates into the media being against them, and therefore the media can’t be trusted.

Trump may become the most anti-media President since Richard Milhous Nixon unleashed his attack dog Spiro T. Agnew. Both men were forced to leave office because of their crooked dealings — we can only hope. Don’t forget Nixon’s two main men H. R. Haldeman and John Ehrlichman, who were both forced to take early retirements.

He plans no press conferences, much like Hillary, summoned top media executives to bow before his throne in the Trump Tower, and has hinted of plans to open up libel laws against his enemies.

PART TWO – COMING DISTRACTIONS
Stay tuned for more on the Democrats and their role in losing the election, and who should take the blame for their failure. It will appear in an upcoming blog, as well as whom to blame for the Oakland fire and the Warriors loss in the last NBA championship.

Quick on the Draw

Although they all have their sights set on being the GOP’s presidential nominee, at the recent National Rifle Association gathering in Nashville, some of the contenders have begun aiming their verbal shots on another target — Hillary Rodham Clinton. They, of the slow moving, plodding elephant-symbol herd, along with many left-leaning feminists, truly believe that Hillary will proclaim herself to be the self-anointed one for the Democratic Party, whose symbol is of a braying ass.

This NRA shindig took place on Friday, April 10th, two days before Hillary made her formal announcement to run. This was two hundred eighty two (282) days before the Iowa Caucus takes place on January 18, 2016, and five hundred seventy seven (577) days before the November 8, 2016 general election for a new king or queen.

The GOP candidates were acting their all-American parts to win the support of the primarily non-liberal members of the Irrational Rifle Association (The IRA). They kept to the same script as they ranted and raved, with Jeb of the Bush royalty decrying, "the liberal, progressive worldview of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder, and all of the other people who want to take the guns out of the hands of the good guys."

Long-shot Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana, said, "The reality is the 2016 campaign is going to be between elitism and populism. Hillary Clinton has already made it clear she'll be on the side of elitism."

Former Texas governor Rick Perry, frantically waved his arms about while loudly criticizing” our failed foreign policy.”

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, focused in on his audience, when talking about those running the government. “The president has wielded human tragedy in an attempt to subvert our rights," said Rubio. "The sins of the evil do not justify restricting the rights of the good."

Poor old Hillary, who will have reached the wizened age sixty-nine on election day, will have her own shot at would-be GOP opponents after her Sunday’s proclamation. She is already looking more presidential than the GOP contenders, but what are the odds that there be any Democratic challengers to her throne?

Does it really matter who the next person will be to mismanage our country, and are you strong enough mentally to withstand nineteen months of pre-election narishkeyt — nonsense?
